When performed on children, traditional vision exams may be inaccurate when not performed properly, mainly for young children who can’t always cooperate with the examiner’s instructions or communicate what they’re seeing. This may result in frustration and loss of cooperation with the patient, leading to undetected or misdiagnosed vision impairments. Though traditional eye exams can be accurate when thoroughly performed, they are time consuming and require significant effort for the eye care provider.
